After a postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. Alois Fürstner at the Max-Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung (Mülheim, Germany), were he was part of the team investigating the first total syntheses of iejimalide B and iejimalide A, he spent two years as an R&D chemist for DSM Linz. In 2009 he started his independent career as an Assistant Professor at the JKU Linz. In the end of 2014 he was promoted to Associate Professor.
