Jakub Švenda graduated from the Masaryk University, Czech Republic, in 2004. He obtained his undergraduate research training in the laboratory of Dr. Petr Beňovský (Masaryk University) and Prof. Timothy C. Gallagher (University of Bristol, UK). He then moved to the United States as an Alfred Bader Fellow to study with Prof. Andrew G. Myers (Harvard University) and went on to obtain his PhD in chemistry in 2010. After a two-year postdoctoral stay in Germany with Prof. Herbert Waldmann (Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology), he returned to the Masaryk University to start an independent career in organic synthesis of biologically active small molecules.
